5 Benefits of Lemon Water

My absolute favorite go to, easy-to-make and affordable drink is lemon water. I drink it nearly every morning. The best part about it? How many amazing benefits there are to it!

Benefits of Lemon Water

Boosts your immune system

Lemon is a fantastic source of vitamin C, which is an essential nutrient for supporting the body's immune system. It does this by stimulating white blood cell production. Why is that important? Well it is an integral part of your immune system functioning properly. Getting enough vitamin C helps to keep colds and flus away!

Reduces inflammation

How can drinking lemon water regularly reduce inflammation? Well first things first, the reason for joint inflammation is mainly caused by your body building up uric acid in your joints. Lemon water can help prevent this build up by decreasing the levels of acid in your body.

Aids digestion

The way the human body works is that the liver produces bile which allows food to move through your gastrointestinal tract smoothly. How do lemons help with that? At the atomic level, lemon juice is very similar to what is naturally found in our stomachs. The lemon water tricks the liver into producing that bile. Lemons also allow for improved nutrient absorption and helps flush out toxins. (fyi: Lemon water is fantastic for an upset stomach)

Vitamin C is helpful in fighting the damage to your skin, caused by free radicals. This can help keep your skin looking healthy! It can do this because of the antioxidants found within the vitamin C.
